A gathering place for vegetable gardeners & allotmenteers

I need to split up an ancient & huge clump of chives... I've trimmed the tops but does anyone know whether I need to trim the roots as well when repotting, like you do with leeks, or do I just leave them as is?

Hi Wingy

I needed to move and split a clump of chives. I dug them up, split them into four pieces, planted and watered them and they are growing away as if nothing happened.
