Gardeners Calendar

A gathering place for vegetable gardeners & allotmenteers

Last year I decided to grow beans over an arch. Using hazel sticks from the garden I made a structure like a skeletal shed and covered it with plastic bean netting.

I got a very good crop which were easy to pick and will use it again.

In the photos you will see that the construction was crude but as it was an experiment I didn't want to spend much time or money on the structure. It has lasted well, surviving this winters snowfall, unlike the fruit cage beside it. The netting around it is to keep the deer away.
